Well, its Minnesota, should I expect any different?? -14 below tonight, with a wind chill of -40...Brrrrrrrr! Well, as stubborn (mostly Scandinavians) go, I saw a car getting a car wash tonight! What were they thinking!?! Maybe they want the excuse that their car was frozen shut in the morning, so they can't make it to work...hmmmm...
Well, this is my inaugural post and I don't have any specific train of thought, so I will share something that my 10 month old Elle did on Valentine's. Before I can tell the story though, I need to back up and give the background info on this. When I was 7, ah that was 1983, I wanted a Cabbage Patch doll SOOOOO bad! If you remember, that was when moms were standing in line at stores and beating each other up in order to get a doll. Ah, my mom was NOT going to do that! So, when a local grocery store, D&W, in Kentwood, MI had a drawing for a doll, my whole family entered me, numerous times! Needless to say, I was ecstatic when I won! The doll I won was a little bald boy in a sailor suit. Lawrence Giff was his name on his Birth Certificate. I took care of that doll like he was my little baby. I dressed him (since he was bald, he wore many dresses and I pretended his name was Loretta), put him to bed etc, etc.. Fast forward to Valentines day 2008..... My little Elle was on the floor and found Lawrence in her closet. She was playing with him and touching his face and was looking so sweet with my little doll, but I was so afraid that she is going to destroy my "first baby." Then as I said "kiss, kiss" she reached for the doll and pulled him to her face and she kissed him!! It was the most surreal moment as my little baby met her mommy "first baby" she loved almost 25 years ago. I was so shocked, surprised, touched and moved, that I began to cry...and sob. I think Bernhard (hubby) thought that I had lost my mind as he listened to me blubber while he was in the shower!
Wow, things we realize and learn from our children...and they don't have a clue!
